Welcome to the new Tamahere Community Website

In the Waikato district, local community committees are designed to ensure that residents within a ward have a voice to represent the views of the community to the Waikato District Council.  The Tamahere Community Committee, which meets monthly, assists and supports Tamahere ward councillor Wally Hayes in his dealings with the council.

The Tamahere Community Committee want to represent our community as best we can.  To do so, we need to ensure that you are kept up to date with any issue being dealt with through the Waikato District Council that will affect the "lifestyle community" we identified in our 2004 Community Plan  as being our vision for Tamahere.   As a committee, we updated this Plan in April of this year, but it will be offically updated by Waikato District Council in 2010 with consultation with the whole community.  Click here if you wish to view our updated version.

Tamahere Community Committee Meeting
On Thursday November 19, The Tamahere Community Committee held a public meeting at the Tamahere Community Centre to update the community on our achievements to date and to discuss the importance of the Master Plan Project we will be working on for the future.  This was attended by only five residents so for all those that missed out, please click here to read our presentation.

Waikato District Council Crash Reports
Are you aware of an accident in your area?  Many accidents are not currently reported to council, and if they are not made aware of them, then the appropriate safety improvements won't be made to our roading network.  To notify council of crashes, whether large or small, please click here to download a crash report form.

Gully Restoration Mar 4, 2010

Tamahere Community Nursery
Ecosourcing / seed collection field trip - Sunday 7th March.

We have planned a field trip to Pukemokemoke Bush Reserve this Sunday
1pm to 4pm to collect seed.  We expect to collect seed of a number of species hard to find elsewhere in the Hamilton Ecological District.  After collecting seed, some will be sown for the Tamahere Nursery and
there will be an opportunity to take some home to sow as well.

Please meet at Pukemokemoke Bush Reserve Tauhei Road, Tauhei.
From Gordonton Road, head east along Whitikahu Road, past Woodlands
Homestead. Whitikahu Road becomes Tauhei Road and the reserve is about 11 km on the left, down a long driveway just past the Perry's quarry .

Bring good walking shoes and clothing suitable for the weather. Bring
also, envelopes and a pencil or snap lock plastic bags and a marker pen.
A small pack with snack and drink is a good idea.

Interested in gully restoration?  Then visit the Tamahere Community Nursery on the 1st Sunday of the month between 1.30-3.30pm on Devine Road to the left and behind the Tamahere Community Centre. Contact; Jan Simmons
