Welcome to the new Tamahere Community Website
In the Waikato district, local community committees are designed to ensure that residents within a ward have a voice to represent the views of the community to the Waikato District Council. The Tamahere Community Committee, which meets monthly, assists and supports Tamahere ward councillor Wally Hayes in his dealings with the council.
The Tamahere Community Committee want to represent our community as best we can. To do so, we need to ensure that you are kept up to date with any issue being dealt with through the Waikato District Council that will affect the "lifestyle community" we identified in our 2004 Community Plan as being our vision for Tamahere. As a committee, we updated this Plan in April of this year, but it will be offically updated by Waikato District Council in 2010 with consultation with the whole community. Tamahere Community Committee Meeting
On Thursday November 19, The Tamahere Community Committee held a public meeting at the Tamahere Community Centre to update the community on our achievements to date and to discuss the importance of the Master Plan Project we will be working on for the future. This was attended by only five residents so for all those that missed out, please click here to read our presentation.
Waikato District Council Crash Reports
Are you aware of an accident in your area? Many accidents are not currently reported to council, and if they are not made aware of them, then the appropriate safety improvements won't be made to our roading network. To notify council of crashes, whether large or small, please click here to download a crash report form.
Tamahere Community Nursery Waikato District Council’s policy committee has now finally adopted a water bylaw which requires all new homes in the Waikato district joining its water supply to build a tank to collect rain water. The Tamahere Community Committee submitted against the draft bylaw, and while we were successful in securing some major changes to the draft, we still believe there are contentious areas that may prove problematic in the future.
